H.R.H. Princess Katarina attended today the promotion of the New society of Serbian Greek friendship organized in Belgrade City Hall. Mrs. Radmila Hrustanovic, Mayor of Belgrade, Mr. Dura Krompic, Vice-president of Vracar municipality and Mr. Branko Belic, President of Savski venac municipality hosted the ceremony.
Mr. Nikolaos Hajirouseas, a Mayor of Anavisos, a city near Athens, whose residents received several times children of Vracar municipality, was the guest of the ceremony.
In addressing the presents, the hosts expressed their pleasure for the opening of this Society and wished for traditionally friendly relations between Serbian and Greek people to become stronger.
The president of New society of Serbian Greek friendship Mr. Diogenis Valavanidis also addressed the present guests. By emphasizing that the society was established to promote spiritual, cultural and economic relations between the two countries, Mr. Valavanidis also added that Duro Dakovic St. in Belgrade will soon be named after one of the greatest figures from Greek Serbian history Mr. Elifteros Vanizelous, who was a great friend of Serbian people.
Together with numerous Greek citizens that reside in Yugoslavia and our fellow-citizens admirers of Greek culture, His Excellence Mr. Stavros Amvrosiou, Ambassador of Cyprus, , Mr. Christos Farmakis, Economic Counselor at the Greek Embassy and Mr. Charalampos Orfanidis, Press Counselor also attended the event.
Crown Princess Katarina was accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Batis who are in a short visit to Belgrade.
