A very important charity dinner was organized by “Lifeline” Hellas Humanitarian Organization at the Kivernio, Thessaloniki last night in the presence and under the patronage of Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine.
The aim of this humanitarian endeavour of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, supported by Lifeline Hellas, is to help reducing shortages of vital importance equipment in hospitals of Serbia and Montenegro. This humanitarian event will benefit the urgent requirement to upgrade the Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the cities of Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, in Serbia and Montenegro. This is the second event in 2006 for this project, following the successful evening which was organized in late January at Megaro Mela, in Athens, with the cooperation of the National Bank of Greece.
Lifeline Hellas in cooperation with the Hellenic and Serbian Medical Organizing Committee are in charge of this project and believe in the need to urgently accomplish this essential task. Lifeline is very grateful for the support and interest from both the business community and individuals related to this important project which is dedicated to save babies lives.
Mr. John Trikardos, President of the Board of Directors of Lifeline Hellas, HRH Crown Prince Alexander, and HRH Crown Princess Katherine, welcomed the gala attendees and gave a special flavour to this event with their speeches. Short speeches were also delivered by HE Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Mr. George Kalaitzis, General Consul of Serbia and Montenegro in Greece Mr. Radomir Zivkovic, HE the Prefecture of Thessalonica Mr. Panayiotis Psomiadis, Vice Mayor of Thessalonica, Mrs. Kolovou Lemonia on behalf of the Mayor Mr. Papageorgopoulos and Mr. Richard Jackson, President of the American College Anatolia.
The event also attended other distinguished guests such as: members of the Parliament Mr. Nicolas Tsiartsionis Former Minister Macedenonia-Thrace and Mr. George Salagudis Former Deputy Minister of Development, Mr. George Tsiotras General Secretary of region of Central Macedonia and Mrs. Allison Andrews, daughter of HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
Guests flowed into the magnificent classic hall of Kivernio, the old palace of Thessalonica, an outstanding location, everyone had the pleasure to enjoy in the music performed by the Alumni Choir of Anatolia College – surprise present for Their Royal Highnesses from Mr. Richard Jackson, President of the American College Anatolia, and the soprano Mrs. Sirannus Tsalinikian of the National Opera of Greece along with pianist Dr. Papadopoulos, as well as to watch a special Lifeline film depicting the current humanitarian tragic situation in Serbia with the highest infant mortality in Europe.
