The Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church bestowed the decoration of Saint Savva on Drossos Chatzitheodoulou, until recently the press attache of the Greek Embassy in Belgrade, for his contribution to stronger ties between Serbs and Greeks. The award is the highest decoration of the Serbian Orthodox Church and was presented by Patriarch Paul of Serbia in an official ceremony attended by Greek Ambassador to Serbia, Michalis Spinelis, politicians and media representatives.
During his speech, the Patriarch commended Chatzitheodoulou on his "significant contribution to relations between two nations of the same religion".
Chatzitheodoulou was the Greek press attache in Belgrade for twenty years and was very popular with the Serbian media.
